The post holder will be heavily involved in both theoretical and operational development of new and evolving technologies, which will include:
Identifying and developing innovative solutions to complex and new electro-mechanical technical problems.
Researching relevant areas.
Designing, developing and creating equipment and services that contribute to the company’s global standards.
Liaising with international clients to ensure we are able to meet their future needs.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities include:
Research, produce, test and adapt prototypes, systems and improvements that help answer research and operational questions or problems.
Evaluate technology through activities such as programmed trials, lab tests and user tests in order to determine suitability and effectiveness.
Lead proof of concept and quality testing of Ceramex IP with leading global engine manufacturers.
Develop new testing and inspection equipment to validate new products and demonstrate outputs to clients.
End to end technical responsibility for the efficient cleaning and environmentally safe processing of DPFs.
Provide technical advice and consultancy to help Ceramex and its external partners make the best decisions.
Collaborate with internal and external sources to advance R&D projects.
Document and present research results for senior audiences both within Ceramex and with global customers and partners.
Represent Ceramex in international standards bodies and similar environmental forums.
Knowledge, skills, training and experience
A degree (or equivalent experience) in Technology, Electro / Mechanical / Chemical Engineering, Physics or a similar relevant science, engineering or technical subject.
A passion for, and track record of demonstrating the capability to deliver original work, supported by an enquiring mind with well-developed analytical and investigative skills.
Experience in a role involving research, development and/or user testing of technology, including playing a key role in delivering a significant piece of innovative R&D.
Experience of mechanical or electrical engineering development at industry level.
Strong communication skills, able to explain and promote ideas by logical argument and capable of presenting the results of a project in a clear and effective manner, both verbally and in writing.
High capacity to problem solve, using research, testing and analysis to propose effective solutions to complex and new electro-mechanical re-manufacturing problems, including those presented by continuously evolving regulation.
A knowledge of current standards and practices in diesel emissions control.
Awareness of emerging trends and developments in similar relevant technologies.
An ability to produce simple engineering drawings and familiarity with CAD.
An understanding of engineering workshop theory and practice and an ability to manufacture simple engineering components.
A qualification in electric or electronics engineering or experience.
Experience with PLC control and programming.
Experience in laboratory practice, measurement, sampling and data logging.
Experience with fluids control systems.
Experience with environmental control systems and measurements.
