AWE is currently recruiting for a Development Engineer to join Explosives Trials Offsite (XTO), which is part of the Trials and Test Technology Centre. This role entails working with internal and external customers to help plan and execute interesting and novel explosive trials on offsite ranges.
Location – Reading area
Package - £26,500 – c£36,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

The purpose of this role:
To provide supervised engineering capability to support AWE Programmes; work closely with experienced or Senior Engineers to learn about the practical use of Engineering methods, tools and processes in order to reach a point where you can apply yourself with decreasing levels of supervision. We would consider candidates with an electrical or mechanical background.
You will be required to:
Provide scientific/engineering support to Science & Technology related projects
Assist and support S&T trials programmes
Assist in the management of trials assets, both on and off site
Represent the team at internal and external technical meetings and exchanges
Understand and apply responsibilities with regards to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
Be instrumental in the design build and procurement of trials hardware
We would love to hear from individuals who are conversant in:
A wide range of engineering or R&D experience, in multiple project scenarios
Testing installations and systems (and analysing data), producing outline designs and recording, analysing and interpreting test data
High speed trials or diagnostics and instrumentation
Basic experimental data analysis and reporting
Assisting with the design systems and components that meet needs and requirements
Using computer - assisted engineering and design software
Carrying out surveys of electrical systems and equipment to see if they're working properly
Direct manufacturing, installing, and testing of electrical equipment to ensure that products meet specifications and codes
Making sure projects meet electrical and construction safety regulations
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role work in designated areas.
