We’re looking for an experienced tenacious Platform Engineer to help develop, operate, evolve and support our internal PaaS toolset. Our platform team are responsible for enabling internal teams to evolving their software and services with the minimum of friction. You will also help teams to use various services on the platform, including deployment pipelines, service discovery, monitoring and alerting tools etc.
What you will do….
Designing, developing, supporting and optimising the toolset, including Apache Kafka clusters, Chef, Jenkins, AWS and Artifactory
Designing and implementing projects for new automation and shared tooling
Developing in Groovy and Ruby and various other languages such as GoLang and Java when necessary
Work closely with other teams, implementing changes that help improve speed and release quality
Responsible for reviews of platform code changes, approving or suggesting improvements to authors as appropriate
Own issues from initial diagnosis through to implementation of a fix
Challenge and suggest improvements to existing systems or processes on an ongoing basis
Own improvements to the tools, following the software development lifecycle through test and into live
Keep up to date with the latest open source technology and best practise, and suggest areas where new tools or practise can help the business achieve its goals

Supporting other teams with automation and shared toolset queries and requests
Work within our ITIL service management framework
Identify areas where we can make efficiencies and avoid future workload by suggesting solutions that complement our existing tooling strategy
Inception sessions to collaborate on solutions and break down our project epics into stories
Continuous Delivery using the toolset we maintain
Retrospective sessions to agree how we can improve technical delivery, operational support and team processes
