What you will do
A fantastic opportunity has become available for Junior Electronics Engineer in our Fire Detection R&D team. We are looking for someone who can develop electronic products for safety systems, as part of a Research & Development team in a World-leading multi-national organisation.
You will be working in R&D, designing and testing electronic circuits for use in fire detection systems, specifically devices installed around a building that integrates into a larger system.
EN regulatory standards determine the design of modules in Europe and other standards beyond Europe.
You will work with other engineers in various design teams to implement hardware solutions that ensure compliance, improve quality, and adhere to design procedures across the development lifecycle.
How you will do it
Reporting to an Electronics Team Leader duties include:
Design electronic circuits for safety system components
Plan and conduct design qualification testing
Liaise with other departments including Software Engineers, Mechanical Designers, Draftsmen, Technical Authors and SQA
Liaise with Factory Production Engineering and Test Engineering to introduce products into manufacture and maintain existing products
Maintain adequate knowledge in relevant technical development
Provide technical support to Field Support Department
Liaise with suppliers and service providers, including approvals organisations
What we look for
Good university degree (or equivalent), ideally in electronic engineering, although other graduates would be considered if they have relevant experience.
Experience of electronic product development in an R&D environment
Either: Proven experience of digital/microcontroller hardware development
And/Or: Proven experience of analogue electronics design using a range of bipolar and MOSFET transistors, Op-Amps, passive components, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Able to work in a team and liaise with other teams
Experience in the Fire or Security industry
Designing to meet EMC standards and EMC testing
Experience of design and type testing for compatibility with International Standards
Digital and/or Analogue Simulation tools (e.g. SPICE)
Designing with programmable logic devices: PALs, FPGAs and CPLDs
Embedded Software development
Electrical Safety and/or Hazardous Area Applications
Field Bus and communication networks
