WSP have an opportunity for an experienced Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Scotland. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and prestigious projects in the world.
WSP are currently involved in numerous projects which will reshape the industrial landscape of the UK. Although a multi-disciplinary consultancy the WSP MEP team are a tight knit group, working closely to deliver some of the largest and most complex buildings in the UK and Europe.
A typical week would include:
Leading major projects for an overall project team.
Working using own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline
Working in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.
Carrying out detailed designs and layouts for Mechanical systems, and supervise the work of others in this function, whilst maximising joint learning opportunities for the wider business.
Ensuring full compliance with internal governance requirements, taking responsibility for all aspects of your projects.
Assisting in identifying, bidding and winning project opportunities
Holding regular team meetings to discuss resourcing, staff issues, H&S, quality, training & development & all other relevant issues, including UK & Board briefs in support of your Discipline Team Leader.
Attending staff meetings and company communication meetings as requested.
Ensuring that all relevant information with regard to day to day management, vision & values & leadership of the business are communicated effectively to the team.
Assisting with developing the client relationship to promote new commissions
Developing your established network to create advocates for WSP, finding new routes to market.
Supporting bids and opportunities being delivered within the team, and seek support to convert opportunities generated via your own network of client contacts and advocates.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
Good attention to detail and show pride in the work produced.
Full knowledge and experience in all Mechanical systems designs – fan coil, radiant panel, chilled beams (active/passive) etc
A passion to deliver low energy Building Services design solutions
A working understanding of Hevacomp and IES to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
An understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
The ability to remote manage delivery teams either within other offices in the UK or within our overseas delivery function in India.
Achieved Chartership via an Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience.
