We are looking for a talented and motivated Highways Assistant Engineer, with a genuine passion for civil engineering to join our Transportation team in Leeds.

As an Assistant Engineer with the Highways team at Sweco you will:
Undertake elements of the conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of highways works.
Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues in a team environment.
Work in close collaboration with the wider project team and other civil engineering disciplines.
Have some experience of 3D modelling using appropriate software.
Interact with and help resolve issues with other disciplines to support holistic packages.
Your day-to-day activities will include:
Assisting in producing design calculations, drawings and technical reports for internal, external and client project teams.
Undertake a wide range of highway design elements in accordance with appropriate design standards.
Working in full compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
Working within a team to ensure solutions meet client needs and that their expectations are met/exceeded.
Delivering designs within our BIM processes.
Ensuring deliverables are carried out within agreed timescales and budgets.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
A degree qualification in a Civil engineering subject.
Experience of working within civil highways sector, knowledge of the UK Design Manual for Roads & Bridges (DMRB) and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highways Works (MCHW).
Working towards membership of appropriate institution.
Effective organisation, time management, planning and prioritization skills.
Experience of using AutoCAD.
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions.
Ability to work on own initiative and seek assistance when required.
