ABOUT THE ROLE
Intertek’s Transportation Technologies laboratory network employs over 1000 staff in 28 labs in USA, Europe and East Asia, with a diverse portfolio of ATIC services for Automotive, Aerospace, Marine & Rail customers, which includes everything from automobiles, trucks and commercial vehicles, to aircraft, military vehicles, trains, marine vessels, motorcycles, lawn equipment, and more.
To support significant growth and expansion onto a second site, full time, permanent Project Support Engineers of various levels are required to join our team in Milton Keynes. The facility consists of 32 self-contained test cells specified to support a wide variety of fired engine, transmission, full powertrain and high voltage hybrid and Electric Vehicle (EV) systems testing. The facility has benefitted from major recent investments delivering some of the highest specification test cells available in Europe today. These investments have also introduced hybrid powertrain dynamic drive cycle emissions test capability, EV axle module test, EV eMachine test and high voltage electrical systems test capability. Growth sees expansion of our EV test facility onto a new site.
The Project Support team cover combustion engine, hybrid and EV powertrain projects and the focus of the project support engineer is to ensure that customer projects are set-up and supported quickly and smoothly at both Milton Keynes sites; this involves test equipment configuration, instrumentation, de-bugging and commissioning including all relevant safety processes and checks. Applicants will be expected to be motivated and willing to take on new challenges. Some early or late hours working may be required.
The role will be based in Milton Keynes, a city at the forefront of Electric Vehicle infrastructure development, situated in the heart of the Oxford-Cambridge technology corridor and with great road and rail access between London and the Midlands. Milton Keynes and the local area also boast great leisure, retail and restaurant options. Normal working hours are 8am to 4:30pm Monday – Thursday, and 8am to 1pm Friday. Flexible working hours are required along with some additional overtime to support customer demands and deadlines.

Degree in an engineering related discipline or equivalent is desirable, but extensive experience will also be considered
IT Literacy (Microsoft packages) required to maintain clear and traceable documentation
Excellent communication skills
Highly energised mind-set with willingness and desire to learn and adapt individually
The following although not essential would be beneficial:
Fundamental knowledge of combustion engines, EV powertrain, battery and hybrid systems, along with test operations and associated equipment
Knowledge of building and test cell infrastructure including HVAC, test cell networks, chilled & process water systems, exhaust systems, climatic control systems, building management systems, etc
Knowledge of inverter drives and other AC & DC systems
Experience of implementing control systems or programming PLC’s
