The Insight AWS Engineer resides within the Engineering area of the EMEA Services Delivery function, who is responsible for delivering professional managed services to our Clients across a full range of technology and software offerings delivering a scaled, consistent client experience and methodology through four centres of excellence COE.
This position can be based out of any of the following office locations; Sheffield, Manchester or Uxbridge.
An Insight Engineer is the definition of technical and service excellence which is critical to the success of the services delivery function and key to our clients. The Insight Engineer takes responsibility for complex troubleshooting and root causes analysis to fix complex underlying problems.
Engage with all relevant internal stakeholders and directly with the Client to offer a world class technical and service expertise.
Maintain a level of expert knowledge, skills and certification, in specialists areas and in alignment with business needs and manufacturers requirements to support the strategic needs of the business and providing the right level of technical advice to clients.
Respond to all requests and escalations from IMS staff and clients, communicating in the most client centric way and keeping detailed and clear ITSM ticket logs.
Be pro-active in owning issues and driving progress requests from initial request, all the way to resolution, ensuring all parties have timely and constructive updates.
Diagnose and resolve complex post sales technical enquiries, following industry best practices.
Perform root cause analysis and problem management to identify underlying causes of incidents, drive technical client focussed improvements and support other IMS teammates with these activities.
Be actively involved in technical onboarding of complex IT services.
Will play a significant role in technical service reviews with clients and service delivery managers.
Experience of using core AWS IaaS technologies such as EC2 and VPC’s.
Migrating systems from on-premises to EC2 or to other AWS services.
Experience of the core PaaS based services, such as S3, IAM, Route 53, SNS, SES, SQS, ELB’s, EFS-x, CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to verify, detect, and remediate defects.
Ideally have at least one AWS Associate level certification (Architect, Developer or SysOps).
Linux and / or Windows Server administration.
Exposure to third-party monitoring tools such as CA, SolarWinds, Prometheus or ScienceLogic for example.
Ability to work with and deploy CloudFormation stacks.
Working with ITIL based processes.
Experience of using an ITSM platform, such as ServiceNow.
Experience with other cloud platforms such as Azure, Google, IBM or Oracle for example would be beneficial
Experience with GitHub or any other version control system(s), such as GitLab or CodeCommit. - Benefical
Experience of any RDS database administration, such as MySQL / MariaDB or SQL Server.
Experience of either Linux (mostly bash) or PowerShell scripting - Beneficial
Experience of any programming languages.- Beneficial
