About the role:
As a PCB Test Engineer the individuals experience and multiple skills will be used within the Test Engineering team to undertake more complex elements of activities required to complete Customer repairs of PCB, whilst also supporting the business with simulator builds
Day to day responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
Testing and repairing of printed circuit boards and electrical assemblies
Fault diagnosis, performance testing and alignment procedures
PCB Assembly using technical drawings and or specification documents
Maintaining plans / schedules and reporting progress
Following and maintaining test procedures and working in accordance with departmental procedures
Maintaining stock levels of components for repairs, shop floor and customer support
Supporting production and tes engineering with Full flight simulator builds, Pilot training devices and customer support as required
Testing, commissioning, fault finding and problem rectification on Full flight simulator builds
Supporting vendor issues as required
Cable assemblies installation
Knowledge of analogue a digital electronics which includes the following.
Understanding of Voltage, current and resistance.
Capacitors and ac circuits.
Inductors and transformers.
Diodes and diode circuits.
Impedance and reactance.
Oscillators and timers.
Power supply theory, voltage regulation and power conversion.
Digital circuits, understanding of logic devices.
Programmable logic devices.
Microprocessors and microcontrollers.
Logic interfacing and data links.
Analogue to digital conversion and back.
Soldering techniques for surface mount components and plated throughhole components.
Assembly and dis-assembly of electrical assemblies including computers
Cable making in support of development and shop floor
Wire wrap testing and wire wrap
Will have demonstrated a high degree of technical expertise, problem solving skills
Demonstrated the ability to coach, train, plan and manage the work of others
Experience in formal testing, and verification & validation.
Ability to work under pressure to resolve problems as they arise
Ability to communicate effectively with his peers and supervisors at all times
Team player, flexible working, open minded, proactive in moving the company forward
Willing and flexible to visit other L3 sites and customer sites, both in the UK and internationally at short notice
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
Able to undertake periods of shift work
Displays energy, drive, agility and resilience in achieving work-related goals under difficult circumstances
Qualification and educational requirements:
Served an apprenticeship in Electrical engineering preferably with PCB experience, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a suitable manufacturing industry
Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technologies or equivalent
