About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a SECTION ENGINEER to join our Highways team to work in Reading.
To control a section of the works, according to a specific discipline. Management of a team of Site Engineers within same discipline.
What you'll be doing
As a SECTION ENGINEER, you will have the following accountabilities:
Produces Method Statements and Risk Assessments and undertakes periodic reviews;
Prepares and raises Temporary Works Briefs, following up to ensure timely implementation;
Carry out complex setting out;
Produces Activity Control Plans / Inspection and Test Plans and obtains approval;
Produces a weekly programme and measures progress against KPI’s.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following qualities and experience:
Understands Permit System and actively raises Permits to Work;
Is able to identify potential hazards and is proactive in implementing actions and control;
Leadership skills advancing;
Evidence of effective independent judgement skills;
Good progression towards professional accreditation (eg ICE, IHT);
Understands and can use the information provided in the Stage Programme, disseminating this to the team;
Strong knowledge of construction process in one or more of the following areas: Earthworks/Drainage, Pavement, Structures, Roadworks.
