Our UK Business Unit is responsible for developing our portfolio of brands in the following key categories: Flavourings & Seasonings, Cooking Sauces & Accompaniments, Quick Meals & Soups, Ambient Desserts and Sweet Treats. Our International Business Unit is focused on developing new markets for our brands around the world, including Australia, USA, Republic of Ireland, Middle East, South Africa and Canada.
Reporting to the Engineering Project Manager, the role will be part of the Engineering Projects team. The Automation Engineer will be based at Carlton, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, with a requirement to travel around other sites and suppliers as needed.
The primary purpose of the role is to manage the end to end delivery of multiple capital-based manufacturing process (bulk materials handling/feeding/preparation, mixing, depositing, baking, etc) and packaging engineering projects to specification, time & cost plan, achieving the highest of engineering and professional standards.
Support & cover for the Site Automation Manager when required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Full end to end project management of multiple manufacturing process and packaging-based capital projects, including:
Development of pipeline of suitable projects, inc, feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis, etc.,
Lead compilation of capital authority request documentation / narrative
Lead and engage end users in the development of engineering scope
Develop functional design specifications in compliance with engineering & Premier specifications
Run tender and procurement activity with equipment vendors
Selection of preferred supplier(s) through robust selection process, inc, application of appropriate contract
Management of all health and safety aspects of capital projects (eg CDM requirements)
Reporting of project progress: tracking of milestones, activity, priorities, financials
Ensure compliance at pre-delivery milestones to user acceptance test protocols
Manage key resource through to project delivery
Manage post-delivery process including installation, commissioning, training, etc.,
Deliver to user acceptance criteria
Engineering Degree or equivalent (desirable)
Chartered status (desirable)
Upto 5 years Food & FMCG background
Extensive capital project management experience with a customer focus
Conversant with relevant legislation (eg, IEE 17th Edition, DSEAR, etc) (desirable)
Demonstrable record in successful delivery of engineering capital projects in FMCG with particular emphasis on specification/planning /integration/implementation
CAD literate (desirable)
MS Project proficient (desirable)
Demonstrable control system and PLC design/specifications experience (desirable)
Experience of indirect management of multi-functional/disciplinary teams
Experience of modern manufacturing practice (desirable)
Food processing and associated equipment knowledge
Strong working knowledge/experience of Rockwell/Allen Bradley control systems
Collaborative approach, with ability to communicate at all levels
