We are looking for a savvy Data Engineer to join our growing Tech Content Team. As a Data Engineer III, you will be responsible for designing and building new data platform, compliant to our organization’s Unified Reference Architecture(URA), as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. You will support our product owners, database architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives. You must be flexible to work with team located in different geographical time zones.
Experience and Education
3+ years’ experience in data management area with a technical competency demonstrated.
Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering/Computer Science preferred but not required) or equivalent experience required.
Own specific set or group of data transfers in various capacities including collection setup, data transfer setup, contributor/customer setup, etc.
Interface with other technical personnel or team members to document, interpret, and finalize requirements.
Complete data engineering bug fixes and issues, researching and identifying root causes as appropriate.
Identify opportunities to apply automation or other tools to improve effectiveness or efficiency.
Work closely with other development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into data engineering and/or data management designs.
Innovate process improvements that enable efficient delivery and maintenance. Participate in the development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews. Oversee specific database management ensuring structure and dataflow adheres to department standards.
Utilize various data workflow management and analysis tools.
Good level of intimacy within a specific data content area.
Participate in process improvement and compliance to successfully and consistently deliver high quality services on time, and to specification, resulting in flexibility to react quickly to changes in priorities or circumstances to meet business needs.
Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
Participate in project reviews.
Keep abreast of new technology developments.
Must have Technical Skill:
Proficiency in development languages including but not limited to: Java/J2EE, Scala/Python,XML,JSON.
Hands on experience in Big data development technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, etc.).
Strong background in data harvesting, transformation of raw data, data stream processing to build modern data processing pipeline.
Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools.
Experienced in cloud big-data architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP)
Ability to work with data models.
Strong knowledge of data manipulation languages.
Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Nice to have Technical Skills:
Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, MSK etc.
Acquaintance with CI/CD environments and tools((e.g. Jenkins, antifactory puppet , terraform etc.)
Experience with graph data structures and databases
Acquaintance with deployment environments: Docker, Kubernetes
Experience with Unix platform
