We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on an exciting inter-disciplinary project funded under the EPSRC’s People at the Heart of Software Engineering programme. Working in a fantastic team of world-leading experts in Design Thinking, Human Computer Interaction, Software Engineering and Machine Learning from Aston University and Warwick University, the successful applicant will develop leading-edge skills at the interface of software engineering and design as well as obtain valuable industrial experience with our project partners such as BT Group, FoldingSpace and Arcadis.
Based in the Department of Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering & Design, you will develop methods, tools and techniques to help Stakeholders and Software Engineers understand the societal impact of over-the-horizon digital technologies. The goal is to enhance our ability to anticipate the disruption and uncertainty caused by new intelligent systems. This post will focus on a fusion of design thinking and software engineering by applying design methodologies and toolcases such as speculative design to the specification and design of software systems.
You will hold or about to be awarded a PhD in Design, Human Computer Interaction, Requirements Engineering or a related area. You will have experience of applying design thinking and co-creation approaches such as speculative design to digital products. You will also have the ability to synthesize new problem understanding and design techniques, evaluate and refine them and disseminate your research findings at conferences and journals.
You are encouraged to send an informal enquiry to Dr. Wei Liu (email@example.com) or Prof. Pete Sawyer (firstname.lastname@example.org).
