Our Highways team in Liverpool is expanding rapidly to meet the significant workload we have secured locally and across the North of England.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Assistant Engineer with experience in the Highways Sector to be part of this established and experienced team working on exciting highway projects for a wide range of public sector clients across both the local and strategic highway networks. Due to recent successes the team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting opportunities.
The role would be based in our modern highways design office in Liverpool and covers an interesting and varied workload – from major strategic highways projects such as Smart Motorways through to a diverse range of small and medium local authority highways infrastructure improvement schemes.
A typical week would include:
Undertaking services within an engineering environment which may include (but not limited to); scheme investigation, site inspections, data collection and analysis, feasibility and outline design, detailed design, construction inspection / supervision and contract preparation.
Developing highway designs in accordance with the DMRB using AutoCAD, MX and/or Civils 3D.
Supporting Senior Engineer/Team Leader with the delivery of a programme of highway schemes, including cycling and walking active travel schemes.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
Relevant Engineering qualification and relevant post qualification experience.
Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status. Member of an appropriate Institution.
Ability to work under minimum supervision, or as part of a larger delivery team, on complex projects in a CAD/BIM environment.
Experience of DMRB compliant highways design using MX, Civils 3D or similar.
Experience in working in a local authority and/or Highways England environment
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Capable of working to tight project timescales, work comfortably under pressure and have an open and honest approach.
Proficient in use of standard office software
Full, clean driver’s Licence
