The successful candidate for the above role will retain their current employer, i.e. if you are a Jaguar employee you will continue to be administered on the Jaguar grading structure with the associated terms and conditions. If you are currently on BAC or EMC terms, you will retain your current employer but will transfer to a JLR contract and the associated terms and conditions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Opportunity
You will be one of the senior technical leads within the department and seen as the subject matter expert for BIW technical maintenance issues / requests and processes within the production facility.
The role of a Control Engineer will involve understanding BIW facility operations and technology. You’ll be expected to lead teams though diagnosing equipment failures, lead / implement project improvements and carry out team upskilling across the department.
You will be able to promote continues improvement utilising your technical knowledge to logically approach fault finding with the ability to understanding, rectify and resolve problems within a timely manner.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Provide day to day support to the maintenance team to ensure a safe and efficient production performance is delivered within the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People & Environment framework.
Lead the team through complex problem solving and project improvements such as planning equipment upgrades and machinery modifications, identifying faults and investigating equipment breakdowns.
Monitoring the performance of equipment improving cycle times and production efficiencies to ensure the highest level of build quality and volume is achieved at the lowest cost.
Manage, plan and develop facility improvements or changes through the facility change process ensuring the correct JLR standards are maintained and controlled throughout the facility.
Provide technical expertise to resolve equipment failures within a timely manner in order to support our OPR / MTTR targets.
Develop and train others by creating training plans that include delivery of technical, safety and process training programs
Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Knowledge and Experience
Experience in a similar role including maintenance operations within a highly automated manufacturing facility
Time served engineering apprentice with recognised electrical qualifications
High level of technical knowledge on PLC’s (Allan & Bradley), ABB Robotics, Pilz Safety Systems, Control Networking (Interbus & Ethernet), Inverters and Drives
In-depth knowledge of JLR Safety and facility standards such as DCP & PAN specifications
Significant experience of resolving key constraints using a logical and effective approach to problem solving
Able to lead, develop and engage a team through fault finding equipment failures and continues improvement projects
Desirable:
Previous experience on automotive joining technology (SPR/Stud/Laser Welding)
Knowledge of Maintenance Operating Systems procedures & deliverables
Understanding and application of Lean Tools and Techniques

For promotions, the salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including the size of and skills required for the role, the external market value of the role and your individual knowledge and experience.
