The Operations Engineer (Broadcast IT) role sits within the Technology Support department, working as part of the IT Team. Reporting to the IT Team Leader the role supports a multi-platform broadcasting environment with a diverse range of applications and technologies. This second line role will provide advanced technical support to busy office based production teams, remote users, edit suites and live broadcast studios and events.
Provide 2nd Line support for our Production and Broadcast systems, Studios, office and production areas, as well as other site locations.
Windows 7, 10 and OSX operating system support as well as Mobile Device Management (IOS) and remote support.
Application support across Microsoft Office and a large deployment catalogue of production, technical and editing applications.
Assist specialists in the support of servers, network infrastructure and other more complex systems.
Support Digital Video and Audio editing workflows, applications and file management/delivery.
Use service management tools to ensure all tickets are logged, escalated and handled correctly and dealing with 3rd party support where required.
Follow best practice in Data Security and GDPR and ensuring Anti-virus and software Security patch maintenance across a large estate.
Are you the right candidate?
This role is suitable for a qualified IT Technologist or Broadcast Engineer, or a candidate with proven experience of 2nd line support in an Enterprise environment across a diverse range of technologies. The role requires evidence of a strong ability to learn adaptively and on the job, necessary to work in a multi-platform broadcaster in a digital world of continually changing technology.
Working in a live broadcast environment requires the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines – candidates should have experience of this and also be able to prioritise their workload to production requirements.
Understanding and knowledge of Audio and Video editing workflows is desirable.
A complete understanding of Service Management Support processes and attention to detail is required. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills.
The post requires a level of flexibility to cover shifts and the successful candidate may be required to cover bank holidays and provide Out of Hours support as necessary.
