About the Team
The Network team supports over 5000 users in 9 warehouses and several satellite sites around the UK and beyond. The team focuses on network infrastructure support & project delivery and supports all LAN/WAN infrastructure and network systems (predominantly Cisco) that allow Distribution users to do their jobs.
About the Role
Configure Cisco Network switches, routers and Wireless setup, including firewalls
Implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment
Upgrade Data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases (Cisco Nexus 7000 and 6509 switches at the core and Cisco 2960/3750 switches at the edge).
Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy (Palo Alto Firewalls and Cisco ASA’s)
Undertake Data network fault investigations in both local and wide area Networks
Maximise network performance by using Network monitoring tools, troubleshooting network problems, outages and scheduling upgrades
Management/support of Cisco ISE.
Telephony – Cisco Call Manager and Unified Contact Centre Express/Cisco Unity
The position operates a rotating shift but also offers compressed working. The role will be predominately based at the Dale Lane, South Elmsall warehouse campus, with travel to other sites around the surrounding area and the rest of the UK required.
Current Cisco CCNA qualification or equivalent.
Excellent communications (oral and written), interpersonal, persuasion and negotiating skills, able to communicate at all levels in the organisation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
A demonstrable understanding of best practices for installation and management of communications infrastructure within an international enterprise at a senior level of responsibility.
Outstanding problem ownership and a strong desire to work with other areas to diagnose a range of issues.
Ability to motivate others and work effectively in a team.
Proven practical expertise in the use of network management tools, such as Solar Winds.
Proven practical expertise in configuring and maintaining Cisco network equipment.
Proven practical expertise of wireless networking solutions.
Proven experience of scripting, i.e. Python
Clean drivers license
A good appreciation of the use of new networking technologies to support the business and management requirements of a UK Retailer or equivalent.
Proven understanding of network security management.
Good understanding of VOIP and IP telephony including SIP.
