Elekta is a human care company pioneering significant innovations and clinical solutions for treating cancer and brain disorders that improve, prolong and save patient lives. We are currently looking for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join the Throughput and Optimisation Group (TOG) based in our Crawley office.
The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART). The RTE’s focus is to deliver value by managing program level processes and execution against programme release goals. In this capability, the RTE is concerned with the long-term health and ability of the ART to deliver value at a sustainable pace and foster a culture of continuous learning, self-inspection and improvement. They have a solid grasp of how to scale Lean and Agile practices and understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large program.
Facilitate program level ceremonies such as PI Planning, Inspect and Adapt workshops, Product Owner (PO) Sync, System Demos and Scrum of Scrums
Work closely with functional management to highlight and help remove impediments impacting development teams
Escalate program level risks and issues needing management attention
Manage dependencies between delivery teams within or across various Release Trains
Gather and report performance information (e.g. PI burn down data) and communicate metrics to ensure transparency on program status
Track and manage execution against program release goals
Ensure continuous communication between Product Owners and program stakeholders including Product Managers and Subject Matter Experts
Support setting and communication of program priorities to teams
Coaching and Relentless Improvement
Embody the Lean-Agile mindset and champion the values and goals of Elekta’s SAFe transformation
Be transparent in all you do while being coachable yourself i.e. be open to feedback
Challenge the status quo gracefully while working with others to bring all along for the change
Provide visibility into gaps, issues, risks, and opportunities across Agile teams escalating where applicable and resolving where possible
Aggregates and drives team Program Increment (PI) objectives into Program/ Release objectives to ensure alignment with business and successful delivery
Mentor and coach to Agile Release Trains (ARTs) on Agile/Lean/SAFe Principles
Participates in enterprise program management improvement and standardization activities
Encourages collaboration between solution architects and Agile teams
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Ability to work with technical teams
Ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships
Ability to enact change quickly
Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills
Significant experience as an RTE or Scrum Master
Experience in facilitation/moderation of large-scale events and workshops
Successful track record with agile methodologies
3+ years of project experience in an agile environment
Experience in hardware engineering strongly preferred
Proficient in MS Office and SharePoint
Experience with CA Agile Central (Rally) desired
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
SAFe SASM, RTE or other advanced certification preferred
